Gherkins have an oddly irresistible charm in antique botanical art. With their prickled skins, curling stems and quietly comic seriousness, they turn a humble kitchen staple into something unexpectedly elegant. This print has all the appeal of a Victorian vegetable study - precise, characterful and just a little playful - making it a wonderful choice for kitchens, dining spaces, pantry walls and anyone who loves vintage food illustration with personality.
This is an edited reproduction made from antique/public domain source imagery.
Print quality
Printed on beautifully textured 300gsm cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks, this reproduction has a rich, characterful finish that suits antique botanical illustration especially well. The heavyweight fine art paper gives the image depth and presence, while the archival inks help preserve its fresh tones and delicate natural detail.
