There is something especially absorbing about old engineering maps, and this plan of the Panama Canal is full of the detail that makes them so hard to stop looking at. Showing railways, villages and rock sections along the route, it captures the canal not just as a feat of geography but as a monumental act of human ambition. With all the graphic charm of a vintage survey map and the historical weight of one of the world’s great engineering projects, it is a brilliant choice for lovers of cartography, industrial history and antique travel decor.
This is an edited reproduction made from antique/public domain source imagery.
Print quality
Printed on beautifully textured 300gsm cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks, this reproduction has a crisp, characterful finish that suits antique cartography and engineering illustration especially well. The heavyweight fine art paper gives the image depth and presence, while the archival inks help preserve its subtle tones and fine printed detail.
